The location was very good, the staff—including the cleaning crew—were genuinely friendly, and the rooms featured many buttons for lights, curtains, and other functions that you’ll understand if you book. I doubt you’ll be disappointed. The beds were comfortable for a good night’s sleep, and the shower was nice. The toilet seat is large enough for a big bum and flushes automatically for lazy people. The breakfast didn’t suit my taste, though there were enough options and many nearby food places. Smokers had a small indoor smoking area, but it would have helped to have air conditioning, as it was boiling throughout our stay; there was also a terraced smoking area. The Wi‑Fi didn’t work for me, so if you stay here you’ll need an eSIM (unless you’re a Chinese citizen).

It’s close to the MTR station and gives access to the city. The staff don’t speak decent English, communication was poor, and the Wi‑Fi was unreliable, so I couldn’t send messages or emails home to Australia. It was expensive for the type of hotel I wanted.

Customer service and free laundry are positives. However, it’s hard to find the hotel.

The front desk on the fourth floor kept the place private, safe and clean every day, and checking in with a card was convenient for a spot between tourist sites and shopping near Al-Arab Street; staff were helpful, especially Bill and Dion, and others whose names I didn’t catch, and they offered free laundry, water, and cola. However, there was no iron available, the fridge didn’t cool well, though they gave us coolers at reception, and there was no toilet paper.
