Residence Inn by Marriott Decatur

The room was a decent size and breakfast was included, which was about all there was. Checking in took roughly 25 minutes because no one was at the front desk; I even shouted "hello" twice while standing in the lobby, but the phone kept ringing without anyone answering. The bathroom door in our room wouldn’t latch properly, so it couldn’t be locked.

The room was tidy with no unpleasant odors, the breakfast was excellent, and everything was lovely. There was nothing I didn’t like.

“Very good - minus the bad breakfast”

The room was very clean and well appointed, and the staff were friendly with a cheerful lobby. The breakfast buffet fell short: the scrambled eggs seemed like a powdered mix (the yellow color was unnatural), the “cheese omelette” was cold and rubbery, and the turkey sausage was also cold. The half‑and‑half pitcher for coffee was removed 30 minutes before breakfast finished. I was very disappointed, especially since the rest of the stay was nice.

“Stayed here a number of times over the past few years and every time is less appealing”

The location was good, but we were placed next to a room whose door had been smashed in. When I asked what happened, they said firefighters had broken it down. That didn’t feel right since the manager could open any door. The hallway smelled terrible for all three days we stayed, and when I inquired, they blamed foreign guests cooking ethnic foods.

“Although quiet at night housekeeping was a lot to be desired!!! Especially considering the cost!!!”

The bed was comfortable and the hotel stayed very quiet at night. However, housekeeping was poor: we had to request a bedding change after a week, the bed wasn’t made, and we had to ask for clean towels, toilet paper, tea towels, and dishcloths.
