A spot with sea view, private bathroom, a 5‑minute walk to a village, and delicious food. However, there was no running water in the hut, no hammock, and no fan.

The location is fine. There was no welcome; no one spoke to you, and the food was just average.

The food was excellent, especially the banana fritters and the fish dishes. The spot is superb, right beside the ocean with an uninterrupted view. Faldo efficiently organized daily boat trips, and the kids who came along were brilliant too. We were well looked after and our hosts stayed in constant touch with our needs—brilliant! We also enjoyed impromptu concerts each evening with homemade string instruments and dancing. A few other visitors came and went, but we loved the off‑the‑beaten‑track vibe. Rissen is a brilliant example of basic accommodation being beautiful and comfortable. The weather was a problem—we came all the way from the UK only to get torrential rain every day! The last three days cleared, and the snorkeling was out of this world.

A wonderful spot, a cozy hut, and a very kind and helpful host family. Our best and most enjoyable stay during our visit to Raja Ampat—definitely a place to return to.
