For a hotel of this caliber, it was decent for a single night, though the night was noisy because it sits in a park and I had to shut the windows. Breakfast was awful—overcooked cold eggs and inedible sausages. The hotel is small, so we could have had something hot when we arrived; we were actually the only guests at breakfast. Even though there was a kitchen on site, we could have ordered an omelette. The situation was salvaged by a well‑boiled hot coffee.

The location is superb for city exploration, just a 10‑15 minute walk along a traffic‑free, safe river, and next to a large park that stays lively with families and couples even in the evenings. The veranda is lovely for evening seating and watching the world go by, and the family’s cats are awesome and mostly friendly. Breakfast offers a good spread but only instant coffee. It’s really good value for money. The family‑run business has a host who speaks excellent English and is very helpful. A couple of nice local restaurants are nearby if you don’t want to head back into the city centre. The area is largely residential and feels very relaxed. The fixtures and fittings are quite tired and dated, and the electrical sockets need attention. It’s clean but could use some TLC, which is reflected in the price.

Solo travellers find the place fine but it needs a makeover. The room was okay and had air conditioning. It’s quiet and the staff were really helpful. Warning if you suffer badly with cats. Hardly any parking.
