It was very spacious, had a nostalgic feel, and felt like home. I would have liked a bathtub.

The owner was kind and taught us many things.

I stayed in a lovely house with no typical old‑house air‑conditioning issues, and I could buy all the ingredients I needed at a nearby supermarket; the bath was a cozy public bath a short walk away. The kitchen was spacious and easy to use even with a large group, and getting the New Year bell at the local temple was a nice experience. The only hiccup was the steps on both the first and second floors, which made me a bit uneasy about the nighttime bathroom, so I bought a floor‑lighting lamp at a nearby supermarket.

The old building was well maintained, the kitchen was fully equipped, and there was a supermarket close by. However, walking to Nara Park or Todai‑ji involved a stretch of stairs, and the room is on the second floor while the kitchen, living room, tatami room, and bathroom are on the first floor, which can feel awkward for people who don’t usually climb stairs.
