“Good.”
The setting is beautiful, the views are stunning and the building is nice. Some mould was growing around the bath/shower area, and the bath panel in room 16 was partly detached.

Set on 9 acres of manicured lawns and woodland atop Maesrudded Hill, Maes Manor Country Hotel offers sweeping valley views and tranquil gardens. Housed in a 1892 manor, it blends contemporary comforts with classic country‑house charm. Easy M4 access enables visits to Newport, Cardiff, Cwmcarn Forest, Caerphilly Castle and the Brecon Beacons.

Everything was great.

The location was fine. There was no tea or coffee in the rooms during my three‑day stay. The restaurant offered few food options. I didn’t receive a warm welcome or farewell, and there was no iron. Small cups were also missing.

The place offers great value and the staff are incredibly friendly, but the interior feels very dark with lots of red wood paneling and black soft furnishings.

The waitress left her fingers in my food and there was lipstick on my glass, so the staff clearly need training and a new chef would be a good idea.
