We booked this hostel at the last minute for an emergency, mainly because of its convenient location for the ferry to Ometepe and the cheap price. They let us park inside the property. There were issues on arrival but everything was resolved (an extra bed added and a double booking with another group). The rooms and linens weren’t clean enough.

Not much. Where to start with this booking? When we arrived they had no record of our reservation (which turned out to be entirely their fault) and put us in a converted garage that was awful. No paint, no flooring, just a mattress on the floor. Big holes in the walls so it wasn’t even slightly mosquito‑proof and the wiring looked dangerous. I showed him my booking which clearly stated number 3 and had different photos. He said that room was for someone else (they’d even put that person’s name on the door) but after I showed him my booking again he agreed to move us. I don’t know where that person had to go if they arrived later. Room 3 was better. There was a ceiling and floor tiles down and a window. Still very basic and there was no water in the bathroom all afternoon. I know this can be an issue in Nicaragua but even when it was back on, there was no water pressure. The whole place doesn’t look finished and there is bare plaster everywhere. The owner did DIY outside our room all afternoon. And the TV was on loud too. The worst thing was the smell. He explained they had just fumigated for mosquitoes so we had to leave our door and window open to air out the room (although obviously had to close them overnight). It was still choking and gave us terrible headaches. I don’t think people should occupy the rooms when they’re like that. The floor was all dusty/covered in the chemical? It was like they didn’t even clean after the fumigation. When I went to pay she rounded everything up so basically overcharged me. It might be cheap compared to other countries but we have travelled extensively in Central and South America and the standard of this accommodation is way below par. I wouldn’t recommend it at all and don’t understand the positive reviews on here.

The owners were very friendly and the lounge was super cozy. Everything was spotless. Whenever I had questions, the owners were helpful and went out of their way to make my stay pleasant. I would stay here again anytime!
