“Freundlichkeit, Engagement und ein gutes Preis- Leistungsverhältnis”
The Peña Escrita, like its owners, has aged, yet their friendliness, dedication, and low nightly rate balance that out, keeping the value proposition solid—especially since it’s the only hotel in Fuencaliente and it doesn’t exploit that fact. The dinner is simple but tasty and cheap. The hotel sits right in town, best reached by bike, motorcycle, or small car; SUVs will find the tight underground parking fine, while everyone else should park on the main street. Rooms are basic, clean, and functional, with no frills. The breakfast is very plain—just two slices of toast with oil and tomatoes or butter and jam plus a hot drink—more suited to locals and far from a continental standard. I’d suggest the owners avoid listing the price explicitly; otherwise the good impression on value gets hurt.
