The hotel is comfortable and clean, and for European standards the service is excellent, the pool is great, and 100 meters away is the beautiful Kalkudah Beach. The breakfast is a pure Sri Lankan classic, so you’ll eat well.

“Wir waren froh das Hotel nach einer Nacht wieder zu verlassen.”

The air‑conditioning worked well and there was a large wardrobe. The accommodation was on the way south and had already passed the best times. When we arrived we discovered that the bed linen had bleach stains and other indeterminate spots, and all the towels were also spotted. The linen was immediately replaced and was clean, but the hotel couldn’t provide spotless towels; we told the staff they were overwhelmed and they laughed at our concerns. In the morning a cockroach greeted us, sitting right on the wall above the bed.

The hotel is great with an excellent pool and closer to the beach. As others have mentioned, a small fridge and a kettle in each room would raise the score to an 8 or 9. I did receive a kettle after asking, and I could keep cold drinks in the restaurant fridge, but access was only when it was open.

“I was actually sad to leave but we’de booked elsewhere the next night”

The bed felt like a memory‑foam mattress, so comfortable unlike any other bed I’ve slept on in the country. It was very peaceful and clean. The pool was good, and there are a couple of local restaurants up the road and a beach. There’s really nothing to do here but lie around like a slug. The shower water didn’t drain, so the bathroom became a wet room until I fixed it by stamping the water down until something got unblocked.
