La Banasterie, Avignon’s oldest B&B, dates to 1521 and sits 50 m from the Palais des Papes. Its individually decorated, air‑conditioned rooms feature Nespresso machines, Damman teas, and eco‑friendly toiletries. Guests enjoy a terrace, flowered patio, library, and four lounges, including a bar. Continental breakfast is served daily, and the Pont d’Avignon is a 3‑minute walk away.

It was an old house; the rooms transported you back in time.

A lovely host couple gave us plenty of useful tips and a good breakfast, even without charcuterie. The walk to the property isn’t long, but it does go over cobblestones, so keep that in mind.

We were greeted warmly by our hosts, who also shared plenty of valuable information and accompanied us during our stay. The 500‑year‑old house impressed, though some rooms are quite small; nevertheless, there are terraces and other spaces to relax. Breakfast was good.

The magnificent old houses turned into a guesthouse are just steps from the Palais des Papes and Avignon’s center. They’re authentic, quiet, and the welcome was warm.
