The area is packed with businesses, so we could get everything done, but the breakfast area was a mess and severely understocked, and the outdoor pool is fine if you’re elderly—just request a ground‑level room because there’s no elevator.

I had a lot to accomplish in Lexington, including visiting BMI Virginia Military Institute; the town is nice, the hotel is well priced and offers breakfast, though it was entirely self‑serve and no one checked on us, which was a bit of a surprise.

I can’t eat donuts, waffles, or cereal, and I’m a type 2 diabetic—there were no sausages or eggs, nothing was plugged in, I had to crawl under the table to plug in the coffee maker, the clock was unconnected, and the lamp base had dust where you could write your name; the nightstand had sticky rings from soda cans, and I wish the sheets had been changed before I arrived. I did get some sleep.
