We had no idea what to expect when we booked a trip through Cheongju, but staying at the Gloucester was a delight; the rates were good, the room was spacious, and the facilities, including a washing machine, were excellent. Parking was a bit chaotic at first on Saturday, but spaces eventually opened up.

I stayed for work this time, and the conference room and the front desk staff were very considerate. However, the lack of an ice machine was a problem; it seemed to exist only in the restaurant, so please add one.

The room was spacious and clean, and I could walk around barefoot. I wish there were slippers that stay dry even when wet in the combined toilet‑shower room; the floor is tile, so slippers would be useful. There was no water leak from the shower, but I couldn’t figure out how to operate the washlet.

The room was fairly clean and I was satisfied with it. The bath towel smelled on the first day, and the building’s air‑conditioning was weak and only labeled in Korean, making it hard to adjust. Every time I tried to watch TV the remote had Korean text only, which was very inconvenient. I’d give the breakfast an 80‑point rating.

Right across the hotel there’s a modern department store, so shopping is super convenient, and a park behind the property offers a free children’s water playground in summer – the kids loved it. It’s still a bit of a distance from the city centre, so next time I might pick a place closer to downtown for easier access.
