“Felt like a hostel”
The location was good. The hallway looked dirty and the carpet needed replacing. Some rooms had no windows. The bathroom was far from the room and the steep stairs made carrying luggage up difficult.

The spot was perfect for catching the ferry to Naoshima. The staff were all lovely. There are washing machines (200 ¥) and dryers (100 ¥). The eclectic accommodation we loved had steep stairs to the rooms, a bathroom halfway down with a small step, and thin walls. A café/bar is attached. There is communal hot and cold water, but no kettles in the room, so when the hot water ran out (which happened to us) we couldn’t have early‑morning tea. The staff would have refilled it, but we had to leave.

The staff were incredibly friendly, engaging, helpful and informative, and the little café with a balcony was great. English was very good. The rooms are a bit small, and the bathroom isn’t part of the room, but that’s not a huge inconvenience.
