This was one of the best experiences we had in Albania. Mario welcomed us super well from the moment we arrived, always cheerful and ready to share a rakija with us! We felt at home and became friends in a few hours, and we lived the real Albanian experience (from the food to the house layout and the outlook he shared). We would have liked to stay longer, but with two nights it was perfect to enjoy the surroundings of the accommodation (which are spectacular in themselves) and to kayak on the Shala River, avoiding the crowds that gather at specific times. We will definitely return another time, even to work from there because the internet worked great! The food, though well served, was a bit pricey compared to the rest of the country, but it’s still an experience you won’t find elsewhere. Everything was simple but fresh and always made on the spot.

The dinner was amazing, the spot was gorgeous and the staff were very friendly. Kajaks were free to use. The owner answered quickly about the ferry and transport. It would have been better if the room had curtains to block the light.

This place isn’t for people who crave five‑star all‑inclusive hotels. It’s a lovely family spot with a few guest rooms, vegetables and fruit growing around, and pets strolling by the house. It’s a pastoral, quiet place in the most amazing surroundings you can imagine. At night it gets completely quiet, the lake water looks untouched, and the views are unforgettable. The food is delicious – the owner’s wife cooks in the cottage and other family members help. The food is local, tasty, fresh, made from our own ingredients, and even though there’s no menu to choose from, everyone found something they liked. It’s for physically active people – from the pier that boats dock at you have to climb a stair path to reach the cottages, and moving from one cottage to another (where you eat) is similar. The meals are a bit pricey (except breakfast, which is included in the room price) – each meal is 20 eur per person, and you can order both lunch and dinner. There’s no alternative, because the area is only mountains and a lake. However, the quality of the food somewhat makes up for the price.

The setting is gorgeous – a quiet riverside spot that feels private, and the food was solid. The staff handled the shuttle service nicely and were genuinely friendly. On the downside, the room felt cramped, got really hot, and there was hardly any light or power sockets, plus the walls were thin so you could hear everything.
