I arrived to a lovely home‑baked treat in my room. It was the best breakfast I’ve experienced during my 17 nights of travel across the South Island, and Al and Rosie welcomed me warmly, offering helpful information on a range of topics. I couldn’t fault anything.

I chose this place over others because of its free breakfast, and my high expectations were fully met. I appreciated the historical summary and how the older house had been renovated—perhaps the best mix of retro feel, attention to detail, and super‑clean comfort I’ve found in a B&B. I was lucky to book on short notice and will give more notice next time. The excellent rating doesn’t do justice to the bed, which gave me my best sleep in years. Thanks to Al and Rosie for a very nice stay. The explanatory sheet was trimmed at the top, which might suggest that other former features were removed; I couldn’t imagine what they might have been, but I thought the hosts might want to know.

The full breakfast was fantastic, and I loved the homemade baking that arrived in my room. The hosts were very friendly and responsive to all my needs. No one could control the wet weather and the rising fuel price, but I couldn’t fault anything about my Airbnb stay.
