“I would pick a different hostel. next time”
The showers were good, but the instructions for opening the front door outside staff hours were unclear, so I was stuck outside for a while. There’s no kitchen or common area, which is unusual for a hostel, so I had to eat elsewhere or in bed. Lockers were limited to tiny ones that wouldn’t even fit a small bag, let alone my backpack, so security felt low. I’m in Japan, but I wouldn’t leave my laptop unattended in a hostel full of foreigners, so I carried my stuff all day. I’m surprised this hostel has such positive reviews.
The environment was great, the location excellent, and the staff were cool.
“Cheap and good enough hostel”
It’s cheap and the room was surprisingly cozy, even though it was a large dormitory with over ten people. It’s especially nice on quieter days. Air conditioning was fantastic. If you’re just looking for a place to sleep near Namba’s main area, I highly recommend it. The staff were a bit too relaxed and casual about service, but they’re still helpful and friendly when you need assistance.
“Work in progress, good location”
The ground staff were incredibly warm, kind, and genuinely helpful, and the location was convenient, just a 15‑20 minute walk from Namba with easy access to transit, food, and nightlife. However, the hostel sits on the 2nd and 3rd floors, so you have to climb very steep, narrow stairs with no elevator and narrow corridors. The single shared bathroom for a 12‑person dorm often ran out of basic supplies like hand soap and toilet paper. The dorm’s poor ventilation left a constant odor, and the bunk curtains only cover the bottom and sides, offering little privacy. There’s no common kitchen or quiet lounge outside the downstairs bar area, and communication was slow and limited because staff weren’t always visible to answer questions.
