Everything about Montalma was great – a calm, relaxing spot with Maggie and John as fantastic hosts; the house is tastefully decorated, and the garden offers many cozy spots to sit and unwind.

Montalma is a quiet place crafted with great aesthetic sense and love; the family‑run guesthouse offers a hearty breakfast and, upon request, a tasty dinner. The view extends to the sea and is fantastic. We liked everything; we arrived without a car, and from Monchique it takes about 1 hour 20 minutes on foot, or you can take a taxi – that was fine for us.

The mountain setting was tranquil, and the host’s availability and friendliness were appreciated; however, being in the mountains, there were some house ants, and the breakfast was only regular.

The hosts Maggie and John were fantastic, always ready to help and offering solid local tips. Every morning they served a freshly prepared breakfast with a wide selection. The place itself is lovely, with comfortable beds and a spotless bathroom, and the location is beautiful.
