I stayed in a room that was filthy—dirty sheets, used towels, and a bad smell in both the room and hallway. The bed was ruffled and not freshly made. The front desk was empty; only after calling and waiting 10 minutes did a staff member unlock the door. He was unfriendly and spoke neither German nor English, handed me a key briefly and vanished. There was no other staff to explain why I’d been given a used room, so my family left without using the accommodation, which was unacceptable for us.

The overall atmosphere was deeply uncomfortable, hard to describe, though the place was quiet, empty, and bright. I couldn’t shake the feeling something was off. The surroundings were not particularly appealing. There were several large spiders in the room, and a smell in the air and on the bedding that many guests complained about.
