The location was very convenient, but the furnishings and bed linen felt a bit worn and could use a refresh.

The female staff were nice, but the landlord was incredibly rude, and we won’t stay again; the chalet‑style room was also pricey.
There was no breakfast.

However, mold was present in the bathroom, the shower was either freezing cold or boiling hot, and the pub was closed because of flooding—an issue beyond the owners’ control—which left us scrambling for 40 minutes to find another place to eat. The Chiverton Arms staff could have informed us beforehand so we could have arranged alternative food, especially since most nearby pubs were fully booked. Paying almost £90 for one night didn’t feel like good value, and we felt ripped off.
