I stayed here for a long break from Ubud’s hustle; the place is clean, roomy, and comes with a tiny kitchenette that’s great for whipping up meals. Alit, the host, was attentive and always ready to help with any request.

This homestay is one of the best for a quiet, extended stay in Ubud, just a short scooter ride from downtown, giving you both convenience and peace. The property offers privacy, a lovely garden view, and a relaxing vibe. I especially liked the outdoor kitchen right next to the room—it made cooking simple meals a breeze. Mosquitos were a nuisance.

I liked the outdoor garden and the staff’s help when I arrived, offering assistance with anything I needed. The atmosphere was calm and quiet. The location isn’t central but about 15 min by motorbike, which felt quite convenient, although sometimes it was hard to find the accommodation. The owners were absent during my stay, so when I encountered insect infestations and other “little visitors” I couldn’t get a quick response from them. This made my experience rather uncomfortable. The bed sheet had stains and I found ants inside the bed. Those were the things that most upset me. I would also suggest putting a sign or indication outside (since the accommodation is accessed via a path) so that at night drivers can find it, as I couldn’t recognize the street.

We stayed at Bali Asli Guesthouse for three weeks in February–March 2025. If you want to experience a local Balinese neighborhood and meet a wonderful, helpful family, you must stay here! The spacious room and bathroom are fairly new and ideal for a long stay because of the desk and cupboards. It has an air conditioner and a refrigerator. It was great to have a small kitchen on the terrace. Here we cooked and enjoyed the view of plants, butterflies, and birds in the garden. The family has a dog and two cats. After a short time, we were accepted by the pets. We love shopping at the local market and shops, but it’s also possible to eat out in the neighborhood. The family who run the place are very kind and can help you with transport to Ubud Centre or anywhere else. They come every day to the guesthouse and answer WhatsApp very quickly. We give the best recommendations to Bali Asli Guesthouse and the lovely family. /Flemming & Dorthe
