The house was very nice! Every piece of furniture, fixture, countertop, and appliance looked brand new. I’d gladly stay here again. Our host, James, was great. He greeted us and showed us where everything was when we checked in, and then kept to himself, so it felt like we had the entire house to ourselves. The house is very centrally located, right between Volcano Park and Hilo, but it’s in a rural development, so expect a half‑hour drive to get to anything worthwhile. Also, while I enjoyed falling asleep to the sounds of nature, be aware you’ll hear frogs, birds, crickets, and roosters each night. Everything was wonderful!

James is a super host. Everything he does makes us feel at home. Very clean and equipped. The price is decent and affordable. Washer and dryer is a big plus.

I stopped for one night right next to the Caverns of Fire, a lava tube I highly recommend. Parking was just outside the front door and getting in was a breeze. The King room with a private bath was large, new, and spotless. Breakfast was self‑prepared from a well‑organized fridge, and the host, who lives there, was available yet unobtrusive. He even set aside a generous section of the fridge for us. The only drawback, as the listing said, was that the house has no air conditioning. That’s the sole ding in the rating; the temperature in the upper 70s made it fairly comfortable, though a touch humid.
