The crew were friendly, the facilities and gear were solid, the meals tasty, fresh towels arrived after game drives, there was a fireplace, the spot was great and the view was stunning; we could hear lions roaring at night, and the escort made the place feel very safe. The shower system needs work: water is scarce and precious, and we’d like to shower without having to ask the crew. Other than that, everything was fine.

Pumizka was the best experience of our lives; staying right in the heart of the Serengeti and connecting with the wilderness felt unique. Even though the room was a tent, it was a very good one, and everything was arranged for our comfort. The food was perfect and the staff were the best. The safari games were also great and we had a wonderful time. The only downside was that sometimes after a game we found no water in the room for the toilet, and the internet was very unreliable.

We liked the camp’s location (good spot in the Serengeti with plenty of animals) and the tent was fairly pleasant, though a proper cooling system would be welcome. I don’t understand the positive comments about this camp; it was our last stop after ten days in Tanzania and honestly it was the worst hotel of the whole trip. First, the address listed on Booking and Google was wrong. We were about to give up when a local Tanzanian driver, a neighbor of the camp, finally pointed us in the right direction. I raised the issue with the manager, who seemed indifferent and didn’t seem to care. Then, being the only guests, the camp seemed almost abandoned and we learned they only accept CASH, not cards, so ordering drinks or activities was a bit tricky. The staff try to be friendly but are not well trained and don’t measure up to the other hotels/lodges we’ve stayed at. Finally, the photos are not at all accurate (no bathtub in the bush, for example). In short, skip it; you’ll find better places elsewhere. We also stayed at the “Esirai” camp (Entara group) that follows the migration and is truly higher quality on every level.

Being surrounded by animals, even lions, was amazing.
