Shell Lake Lodge, a Travelodge by Wyndham

“Ok. Mehr aber leider auch nicht.”

It’s close to the city center for dining, the rooms are large, and the breakfast for Americans is fairly decent. The hotel is totally outdated and needs renovation. The old washing machine has no time display, so you don’t know how long it will run, and it only accepts quarters, not cards. The front desk had no change for the cashier.

“This was a bare bones property with a luxury hotel price tag.”

There were no bedside outlets to charge phones, no elevator, and no toiletries in the room—only one tiny bar of soap at the sink and no shower soap. The TV remote was the most confusing piece of electronics I have ever used. I stay in many different hotels for business and pleasure, and this was unacceptable.

“Look elsewhere if possible”

The location was fine, but my room and hallway smelled like mold so badly that it made me throw up in the morning.

“Great staff, facilities. Cute place! Loved the pool area.”

I loved the open 24/7 pool; the rooms were clean, and the staff were super! The only downside was that there were no coffee makers in the rooms and the pool slide wasn’t working during our stay.
