The ambience and views from Berlin were amazing, and the people I met were friendly; the balcony offered a clear view, and the surroundings felt safe thanks to a nearby police station. It’s a bit out of the city centre, but the metro makes it easy to get there.

For food and drinks you have to arrange it yourself, but there are options in the communal kitchen or just around the corner for a good, cheap breakfast. The location is Kreuzberg at the Kotti, and you can reach the centre quickly. The shared‑room facilities were disappointing; some mattresses felt like they were still the previous guest’s, and the showers were a bit of an adventure, reminding me of school days in the 70s/80s. For the nightly rate you shouldn’t expect 3‑star luxury, though the rooms were cleaned daily.

Bonjour, the security was good with two doors, each with a code plus a key to reach my bed. The metro is right there; hot water for showers, a decent bed, and a kitchen to make tea and eat—thanks. What I didn’t like was the lack of respect from some guests who didn’t tidy up after themselves.

We arrived late at night and, despite being told check‑in was self‑service, the box for our access card was missing because other guests had taken it. We eventually got inside when someone else let us in, which felt very unsafe as it seemed anyone could enter. Inside, there were no clear directions to our room or to identify our beds; other guests had the same issue and we had to rely on a resident for help. The room was extremely messy and dirty. We didn’t know which beds were ours until a guest pointed out the three assigned ones. Two were somewhat acceptable, but the third looked as if someone had just slept in it—dirty sheets, chaotic bunk arrangement, flat pillows with no pillowcases. It was already around 1:00 a.m., so we had no choice but to stay the night, but the conditions were so unpleasant that I didn’t feel safe sleeping alone, so I had to share a bed with my boyfriend. On top of that, another person snored loudly and passed gas all night. The bathrooms lacked privacy; there were no locks on the lockers, so guests must bring their own padlocks—this should be communicated beforehand. The surrounding area didn’t feel safe either, with many people drinking on the street. Inside the accommodation, a man behaved aggressively, though it’s unclear if he was intoxicated or not.
