The gym is big. When I got there, I had to wait an hour and wander around the whole property to find someone to check me in; they’re often understaffed. The staff I found was in the kitchen. Inside the room, I was surprised to see a relic from the early ’90s, complete with a child’s single bed set.

Free parking and a very good breakfast.

The breakfast buffet is excellent, and the hotel sits right on the Rennsteig trails with a sauna included. The rooms are large, and there’s plenty of free parking. It’s a quiet spot. Towels and bathrobes for the sauna cost extra, the carpet is worn, and there’s no fridge in the room.

The location on the Rennsteig is calm, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The potato salad at dinner was a delight.
