The guesthouse sits up at about 1,700 m, so it stays cool even in the heat and the owner is genuinely friendly – the whole place feels pleasant. The downside was a bright lamp shining straight into our window at night, and being right above the restaurant meant we woke up each morning to constant chatter.

The proprietor was incredibly helpful – he even handed us two pairs of walking sticks when we forgot ours – and the breakfast every morning was fantastic. The lodge is tucked into the woods, giving it a special, peaceful vibe, and we couldn’t find anything to complain about.

The cabin is right in the middle of the forest, making it an ideal launch point for easy trail walks. Both the owner and his son were very courteous and pleasant, which added a nice personal touch to the stay.

The chalet is nestled in the woods, and a flock of swifts kept the mosquitoes at bay. Meals were traditional and really tasty, and the terrace offered a quiet spot to relax. The host was smiling and attentive, though we wished we’d booked more nights because we had to leave early.

We spent three nights at this lovely spot high up in the woods, just a ten‑minute drive from the Vihren hut, and it was very quiet after the ski season and before summer crowds arrived. The host was friendly and helpful, the food was good, and the room was clean, spacious and attractive. The only thing we missed was a kettle in the room; otherwise, nothing to complain about.
