How guests rate the property, aspect by aspect.
It was interesting to sleep on a tatami; the bed was very comfortable. We had a fully equipped shared kitchen and made breakfast together every day. The location was excellent—close to everything! The highlight was Emiko; she was very welcoming and helped us with our luggage and the transport company. A wonderful person. The hostel has no elevator, so we were on the 3rd floor.

The hotel sits in a great spot, just a 10‑minute walk from the station and 20 minutes on foot from main streets and a few attractions. The room is cozy, and the tatami mat is very comfortable. There’s a shared kitchen where guests can cook, store food in the fridge, and eat. A washer and dryer are also available for a small extra fee. The real highlight, though, is Emiko and her staff—always friendly and very helpful. They gave us great place‑to‑visit and dining tips, and most importantly, they retrieved our luggage that had been mistakenly sent to the wrong location by the previous sender.

Everything was spotless, the beds were comfy, and there was plenty of room for stuff; the staff were friendly and the hotel was within walking distance of Kyoto Station. My favorite neck pillow disappeared from the dorm on the last day—probably taken by one of the last few dorm mates who weren’t Japanese. Having that happen in Japan is so disappointing. If you stay in the dorm, keep your belongings safe; closing the curtains when you’re out doesn’t help.
