“Per overall it was a nice stay!”
The location is excellent, but the music from the mooches was too loud.

The staff were very prompt, especially the bell boy, who was always proactive.

The beds were good, but there was hardly any staff present during the day. Check‑in was unfriendly and unhelpful. Three years ago I had a very friendly and helpful experience, but the staff were now absent during the day. Breakfast was at a different hotel, even though it used to be at the top of the building. The breakfast itself was not great, and the staff took away the plates from your face while you were still eating. Hot showers were often missing, towels had stains and were gray instead of white. The cleaning staff were very friendly.

The restaurants on the street where the hotel is located are good. After more than six or seven stays at Halish Hotel in Karaköy over four years, this visit will be my last. I travel to Istanbul for work at least once a year and kept coming back because of the familiar staff, the convenient location, and the excellent restaurants within walking distance. Unfortunately, the hotel’s standards have been dropping year after year, and my latest stay was deeply disappointing. The towels had a strong, unpleasant chlorine smell and felt very poor in quality. The bedding didn’t smell fresh, and I experienced itching in bed. I can’t tell if it was the laundry products or something else, but it made sleeping uncomfortable. The corridor to my room also had a strong sewage smell. When I arrived on Tuesday, both the sink and shower soap dispensers were empty. On Wednesday I asked reception to refill them during housekeeping, but when I left on Friday there was still no soap. On two occasions I tried to shower and found only cold water. The water pressure was poor, and the bathroom needed maintenance, with a dirty ceiling and peeling paint. Having to dry myself with the unpleasant‑smelling towels only added to the experience. When I raised these issues at reception, I was told the manager was not there and to send an email. After years as a returning guest, this response felt dismissive. Other guests I spoke with also mentioned noise and itching while sleeping. This was not the first time I had raised concerns about the hotel’s declining standards, but I have seen no meaningful improvement. Familiarity and a good location can no longer compensate for the condition of the rooms and the lack of attention to basic guest needs. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the cleaning, maintenance and service issues. Sadly, after four years of returning, I will stay elsewhere.

Great location, close to the metro and with a beautiful view of the Golden Horn.
