The location is good, but the room had a strong odor, likely because it hadn’t been opened for many days. I checked in at 3 am and couldn’t get a room change. I stay at this hotel often, but this was the first time I experienced this.

The hotel sits in a great spot and the rooms are clean, but the room service never answered the phone and never brought morning tea, and the AC was broken—had to call repeatedly on both nights.

The front desk staff were surprisingly good, handling a lot of problems beyond their control, yet there was no Wi‑Fi and no staff help; the food was awful, and we never learned how to poach an egg, plus the sky lounge advertised on posters never opened.

Nothing about this place pleased us. A few hours after we checked in, staff told us we had to be moved to another hotel because of fire‑alarm repairs, yet we saw other guests still arriving, so we suspect an overbooking. The substitute hotel was far below what we had booked – dirty, noisy and shabby, which was completely unacceptable. Southern Plaza offered no help, forcing us to find our own accommodation. We’re very disappointed that the management neither cooperated nor apologized, and it’s outrageous that the fallback hotel was of the lowest quality. It’s also baffling that they never admitted the overbooking mistake and instead used an excuse to get rid of us. We will never book Southern Plaza again!!!

The hotel is in a very good location with easy access to many amenities, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are in good condition, though the toilets are old and stained; breakfast is fine for those who aren’t picky and the breakfast staff are also friendly, making the overall value good, but dust and rubbish pile up under the beds and the staff should move the beds at least once a month and clean underneath and around them, vacuum and mop the floor with disinfectant daily, and replace the stained toilet bowls.
