The location is very good for the airport. Food and stay are good. The staff were friendly, but the manager was very abrupt and less friendly, which also meant little flexibility with our requests.

The size of the room.

The breakfast was great, the room was spacious and clean, the restaurant was good, parking was fine, and the location was excellent—close to Essen and right next to the charming old town center. There's not much else to do in the hotel, but that was expected. The road outside is a bit louder than we thought, though we didn't notice it in the room. The terrace and beer garden are neither quiet nor particularly nice.

The staff were noticeably friendly across the board, and the kitchen service was solid. The room was disappointing; it didn't match the online description at all. The Deluxe Double with balcony lacked a sofa, a seating area, and a proper desk. The “desk” was actually a larger vanity table crowded with a Nescafé machine and capsules, making it almost full. The only chair was an armchair that took up so much space it couldn't fit between the bed and the vanity. Working was simply impossible. The desk lamp was broken too, but that was irrelevant since working wasn't feasible anyway. There was no luggage rack, so the suitcase lay on the floor, taking up even more space. “Deluxe” was a misnomer for this room, and no other room was available; the hotel claimed it was because each room was unique.
