The New Hotel Charlemagne is located in Brussels' European Quarter, 300 metres from the European Commission and Schuman Metro Station. The hotel features rooms with a minibar, free WiFi, work desk, and satellite TV. An American-style breakfast buffet and local Belgian beers are served. It's close to Brussels Central Railway Station, Council of the European Union, and Parc du Cinquantenaire.

Parking is in front of the hotel but the spots are limited. I paid online for a single night, arrived at 14:50, and couldn’t check in until 15:00; waiting 10 minutes for the front desk was absurd. At check‑in they demanded an extra 20 € for a room with air conditioning (VIP room); the other rooms only had fan vents like in the 90s. The shower had a bathtub that overflowed, so water reached my calves while showering.

The room was large and comfortable—perfect for two people. It’s not right in the tourist center, but a 30‑minute walk gets you there easily. The front‑desk lady was super friendly, helped us, and stored our bags before check‑in. Our shower didn’t heat the water. At night we asked the front‑desk gentleman twice for help, but he seemed to ignore us and we had to take a cold shower. In the morning we spoke with another receptionist who was very quick and called a technician; the issue was fixed in about 30 minutes.
