I love how calm and relaxing the place feels, so I keep returning whenever I go to Nara. It’s a short walk from the station, and the route itself has character, letting you pass by Kōfuku‑ji and Sarusawa‑ike and soak up the history, which makes the whole trip enjoyable. The summer‑time hand towel at check‑in was a nice touch. No complaints at all.

Whenever I stay in Nara this inn looks after me, offering a soothing atmosphere that puts me at ease; even though I normally sleep lightly, I always get a deep night’s rest here. What bothers me now is that the modern‑Japanese translation of the Kojiki that used to sit in the room is gone, so I have to borrow it from the library corner instead, which is a hassle.

The hotel sits in a great spot with almost direct access to the park and the deer, and the breakfast is good, though a bit dated, but it’s comfortable and offers a nice view of the temples. The café, like everywhere else, was pretty bad, but that’s just Japan, lol.

The hotel’s location makes walking to the main sights easy, the room is spacious, and breakfast in the lovely dining room is good; there’s also a parking lot on site with a preferential rate. We would have liked to dine in the hotel, but they only offer large menus, and the bathroom is rather small.
