Hotel Iris

The location was great, the room was spacious, and the breakfast was nice. The staff, however, seemed surprised when we arrived because of the dog (the services say animals are allowed). The lady I think is the owner told us that dogs up to ten kilograms were allowed, and my Bichon Frise weighs 7 kilograms. At the first bark from the dog at reception, she told us that if the dog barked we would have to leave the hotel… well, what if a crying baby arrives? Anyway, my dog was very calm and didn’t cause any trouble, but the staff still asked us to wait a couple of minutes before speaking… and a dog arriving in a new place can bark for a second. Then they charged 25€ for its presence for one night, which was a bit much.

“Ci ritornerei domani”

The place was welcoming, the staff extremely kind, and the breakfast was excellent. Everything was very clean, the rooms were comfortable and spacious. Highly recommended.

Nothing positive at all. The rooms were completely different from the booking photos, smelling closed‑in with no air conditioning, in shabby condition. As soon as we checked in and entered the room we left with an excuse. Really disappointed; next time put real photos of the rooms so you don’t mislead customers.

The location is convenient for visiting the town centre. The reception staff were very friendly. The triple room was small, the pillows were too low and uncomfortable, and the bathroom needed renovation.

“Inciviltà vergognosa”

Only the location near the centre was a plus. There was a misunderstanding about our stay with the dog. Even though I specified a pet in the booking, the hotel didn’t see that detail when they received my request. The hotel could have politely informed me of its internal rules about which animals (by size) are allowed. My mother, who accompanied me, was verbally attacked by the reception manager, who wouldn’t tolerate our dog and, in an aggressive tone, told her she would be kicked out of the hotel without a refund. Another front desk staff member was present while I was arguing, rolling her eyes. In short, the behaviour was truly questionable. The same person who was rude to my mother also told us, after we requested a room with air conditioning, that there are no air conditioners in Roccaraso. I would say it’s time to install one of the simplest heating units ever conceived because the room was unbearable at night due to the heat. The breakfast was miserable, hardly worth calling breakfast. I strongly recommend staying at nearby hotels; there are plenty of good options.
