“Lower star rating.”
It was basic, and the reception staff seemed dull and unwelcoming.
The elevator and hot water were out of order throughout my stay.
“Mixed Experience - Convenient Location but Some Issues”
I appreciated the quiet location and easy access to the highway, which made for a convenient stay. However, I had some issues with the shower - the water took a long time to warm up and the pressure was really weak. Additionally, the side of something stopped working on the second day, which was a bit frustrating.
It was nice and clean, and there was nothing to criticize.

I usually stay at a Courtyard when I travel, so I booked the Courtyard Odessa on my way to Scottsdale from Dallas and later the Courtyard Midland, expecting the same quality. I checked in while my wife was in the car and the front desk staff was friendly and efficient. After that, I went to the car to load our luggage onto a cart, and my wife brought the cart, us, and our dog into the hotel. The clerk noticed the dog and apparently informed the manager, who told my wife that we had to leave. I never saw that the Courtyard, just 20 minutes from the one I stayed at on my way to Scottsdale, was “no pets.” I understand their policy, but as a regular Marriott customer, I didn’t get an apology or any help finding alternative accommodations. By 8 pm I was left to deal with it on my own, and the manager seemed indifferent.
