Staff were welcoming. The hotel feels quirky with beautiful decor. I stayed one night and ate there. The restaurant staff were amazing and the food delicious. There is no parking on site, and parking a 5 minutes away costs extra.

The terrace is great. The reception team are extremely helpful. Our room was on the second floor at the back and the window looked out at adjoining roof tiles. The loo didn’t flush but was fixed while we were there. We are both elderly, so dressing and finding a ground‑floor loo early in the morning was hopeless. It is an old building, but the floor creaks, waking us both at night when one of us visits the loo. We thought the room was expensive for what it was. We have stayed there before in a better room on the first floor with a Solent view and would have paid more had such a room been available. We had previously believed there was only one upper floor, not two, so the extra stairs were unhelpful. We wrote to the proprietor but received no reply. It is a favourite hotel of ours, so we were not impressed.

The location is fabulous, the breakfast delicious, and the staff charming and helpful. There’s no lift and the parking isn’t very close.
