The staff here were amazing, super friendly and helpful.
The facilities were really clean and the food at the pub was excellent.
The kids had a blast with all the activities and it's hard to find a better location.
The location of this place is stunning, with loads to do in Dorchester and the surrounding areas.

The tent opens onto garden views and includes its own outdoor furniture. It sleeps four guests with two single beds and one double bed. A private bathroom serves the room.
The venue itself was stunning and had everything you could need, showers toilets etc, all bedding provided although I would advise taking extra blankets for colder evenings if staying in one of the bell tents. We loved feeding the goats and the kids absolutely loved the soft play bus. A kettle is provided and hot water bottles. Our first night, albeit very cold was actually a lovely evening, we were warned that a wedding would be taking place the next night. Whilst it was beautiful to see we did feel like we were intruding just by being there at the same time, the wedding actually finished a lot earlier than we thought it would, however there were guests of the wedding staying in the tent next to ours who carried on the party very loudly until after midnight which meant our second night was a bit spoilt due to being kept awake. A minor issue was how hard the double bed was and the fact it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned, under the main bed there were multiple wrappers and crisp packets, and under one of the smaller beds there were peanuts scattered all over the floor. Not the worst but could have had serious consequences for someone with allergies, we only found them because our daughter dropped a hair clip and we shone a torch to look under her bed. We would stay again, purely just for the location, things to keep the kids busy, and the night sky, but 2 nights is more than enough
I loved the spot and how friendly the staff were. Everything was fairly priced and the place was dog‑friendly. Nothing to add.
The campsite offers lovely extras like a play bus and mini‑golf. It stays super clean, the grass is well kept, and the toilets/shower facilities are tidy and always stocked with toilet paper. There’s plenty of space to roam and walk the dog, and the parking is close. It felt very safe for kids to explore. We were excited to stay on the pub grounds for a nice dinner the first night, but after a less than happy welcome we decided to head down the road to The Thimble Inn. A slightly cheery greeting for paying guests would be nice! The young employees were lovely and did their best.
“Food was great, lots of room for children”
It was ideal for children. Not sure if you realise there is a wasp nest very near the hut Not great if you have small children Left a day early
“The Gaggle of Geese campsite is a friendly, well equipped venue in a great location to enjoy Dorset”
The photos and description do not do this venue justice. The camping area is big enough to have space to play but small enough to keep a cosy site feel. There are different types of accommodation including tent pitches, ready pitched bell tents and shepherd huts. There are 3 toilet and shower blocks as well as a really well set up washing up area. Resident goats, a play bus, mini golf and the other activities make it a site that you could spend all day at….especiallly when combined with the really decent pub. oUr ready pitched bell tents had nice beds and linen, along with a lamp and kettle so that helped us keep warm and see what we were doing. The staff were friendly and efficient, and all 15 of our party said we’d go there again. Thanks Sarah & Simon (& the goats & sheepdog!!). We got cold at night and could have done with a tent inner or a sleeping bag as well as the duvet. That’s on us!
