“Good but room for improvement”

The hotel sits just a short walk—about 10 minutes—to the tube, and the street around it is mostly quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the single room with en suite was clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower was easy to use and the water warmed up quickly. The heating was turned on early in the morning, which was nice because it was a cold spell during my stay. However, the room looked tired and needed a fresh coat of paint, as there were water stains on the ceiling and marks on the walls. The heating should have been on in the evening when the temperature dropped. Noise from visitors talking at reception could be quite loud at times, and my room was just up the stairs from reception.

“Depressing room and tiny shared bathroom.”

The bed was clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly, and the location was fairly quiet. But the hotel lacked basic facilities: there was no tea or coffee in the room, so I had to go downstairs for a hot drink after a long commute and full day at work. A kettle would have been a standard feature in most British hotels. The room had no side table, lamp, or any other basic comfort—just a bed, a hard chair, and an open wardrobe. Marks and peeling paint on the walls made it feel run down and uncared for. The shared bathroom was the worst part: it was roughly 1 m × 1 m, barely large enough, and it was impossible to shower without soaking the toilet. The sink was so small I barely had room to brush my teeth. The owner should convert one of the bedrooms into a bathroom because this one is ridiculous. I got the room at a discounted price of £65, which is far too expensive for the low quality. I’m glad I only stayed one night because the room was depressing and the shower basically unusable because of the bathroom’s size. I won’t be staying here again.

“Lovely hotel in Woodford”

It was a lovely clean hotel and this was my second time staying here. I liked the location. But it was very hot during the July heatwave, there were no fans, no lifts, and no breakfast.

“Disappointing”

The staff were pleasant and the cleanliness was acceptable. However, this should not be classified as a 3‑star property, and a room without a proper basin with a hot tap is not ‘deluxe’! The basin was part of the toilet cistern and only had a cold tap, as shown in the photo. The toilet door was about 2 inches from your face, making it difficult to stand up with the door closed and impossible for anyone tall or large. There was no mirror in the bathroom. The closet/wardrobe was the only place to put makeup and anything else you didn’t want on the floor. There were no bedside cabinets or plug sockets next to the bed. There was no soundproofing; you could hear everything from next door. It felt more like a hostel. Tea and coffee were only available in the lounge area, so you couldn’t have a morning drink without getting dressed.
