The hotel’s location is truly central, but that explains the high price, especially considering the hotel’s quality is over‑priced. The room was tiny, with a very small table that only one chair could fit, so two people couldn’t sit. There was no proper wardrobe; the main space was taken by a fridge and a safe, and the old, tiny, non‑functional wardrobe forced me to store my stuff on the single chair. The worst part was the shower water that constantly fluctuated from cold to almost boiling, changing randomly every few seconds—whether due to thin pipes or a faulty mixer is unclear. Venice is surrounded by water and many canals, which attracts mosquitoes, and I had no mosquito nets on the windows; the hotel sits right on the bank of one of those canals. I also didn’t like that the staff took copies of my passport and bank card with the security codes at check‑in, claiming it was a “deposit.” When I returned home I had to go to the bank to replace my card, which cost money. All of this was for a room that cost twice as much as in Rome.
