“Avoid Palashgram Eco Resort Matha Forest, Purulia”
I spent three nights at Palashgram Eco Resort from 18th to 21st June 2025, expecting garden‑view rooms, not cottages. We left Ballygunge, Kolkata, for a 6‑hour trip, but the owner, Mr. Suvashis Kundu, gave us misleading directions that stretched the journey to over 9 hours. Upon arrival, we were told we’d booked cottages and were forced to pay an extra ₹10,000 to move to the rooms we had originally booked. The cottages were tiny, poorly maintained, and unattractive, and the upgrade was not optional; Mr. Suvashis Kundu and manager Mr. Bidyut Pandey pressured us. I was also aggressively asked to cancel and rebook directly with the resort, which I refused, insisting on keeping my original reservation and requesting a separate invoice for the ₹10,000. When I offered to pay by credit card, I was denied unless I accepted vague, undisclosed “bank charges” with no percentage disclosed. I ultimately paid the full amount—including the extra ₹10,000—via Google Pay. Basic amenities were shockingly substandard: Wi‑Fi never worked, the generator couldn’t support air conditioning, leaving rooms hot during outages, and no complimentary bottled water was provided; we were charged for basic drinking water. Food prices were average, but the quality and taste were extremely poor, making dining unpleasant. What’s most frustrating is that this resort is falsely listed on Booking.
