“良かった”
The onsen was great, but I think they could have been more thoughtful about how they schedule meals and seat guests.
“満足度の高い宿です。ホテル内で食事も遊びも完了するので楽です。”
I loved that both dinner and breakfast featured a solid selection of seafood, and the freshly fried tempura and roast beef at dinner felt worth more than their price; my son, a big fan of salmon roe, went wild for the limited‑time all‑you‑can‑eat ikura, and the medium‑fat tuna practically melted in my mouth. Although I expected New Okabe to feel old‑fashioned, the Oedo Onsen renovation left the whole property looking clean and modern, which was a pleasant surprise, and I think overseas guests would appreciate it too. For families, the crane‑game corner and kids’ space earned extra points, and the room retained a charming traditional ryokan feel while being spacious and comfortable. Arriving by public transport, the shuttle bus was a lifesaver, and the lounge fireplace added a warm touch. I didn’t mind the view from the room, but guests who prioritize scenery might be a bit disappointed. At dinner, alcohol was extra and only the all‑you‑can‑drink option was available, which was a let‑down; I added the drink package just to have a sake, but the limited time meant I couldn’t fully enjoy both food and drinks, and I later regretted paying 2500 yen for a single cup of sake. It would be nicer to have a per‑drink option or to allow a few drinks with the meal, perhaps by offering a modest selection in the lounge where drinks are already unlimited.

The buffet breakfast and dinner offered a wide variety of tasty dishes, but aside from check‑in and check‑out there was no interaction with staff. Although there was a welcome hall, no one pointed it out, so I never used it, and despite requesting a shuttle from Izu‑Oka Station when I booked, I never received any timing information. Overall, the service felt rather blunt for the price paid.
“A great stay with plenty of food choices, relaxing onsen, and fun activities to enjoy.”
The food was delicious, offering a wide range of options at both the dinner and breakfast buffets. We especially enjoyed having two different onsens to choose from, as well as the ping‑pong area! The variety was large and the fish dishes were good, but with such a big buffet some items didn’t stand out taste‑wise; overall the food was still enjoyable.
“優雅なひと時🍷”
The free‑drink time was a relaxed and enjoyable part of the stay, and the morning and evening buffets were wonderful!
