I decided to visit Cologne for just one day and chose this place to stay from Saturday to Sunday. It feels like home, like visiting family. I arrived late because my Ryanair flight from Leeds was delayed. A friendly pair of hosts waited for me past midnight, showing no sign of impatience, instead greeting me with smiles and warm words. The room has everything you need, plenty of sockets for earbuds, phones, power banks. A nice private kitchen lets you brew tea or coffee, there are books (only in German) and even some toys for kids on the shelf if you came with them. In the morning there was a perfect continental breakfast with freshly baked goods, even on Sunday! They help you at every step, even if you don't ask, showing where the bus stop is, how to buy tickets and validate them, and what time the bus to your destination runs. I went to see the Three Magi Kings reliquary in the cathedral, and also the tomb of John Duns Scotus in Minoriten Kirche, as part of a private pilgrimage tied to a literary project. Aside from the late flights, everything went as planned after the cozy bedroom’s regeneration.
