The food and service were fantastic 👌 The en suite in our room definitely needs an upgrade and was very dirty, but the room itself was fine.
“Avoid”
The parking spot was fine and close to the main road, but the location was noisy and too close to traffic. The accommodation was very basic, the mattress was uncomfortable and already past its best, the bath was discoloured, and the bathroom mirror was damaged. The plug socket was inaccessible behind the unit. Everything seemed to be done for a price rather than a standard, with a data protection issue. It felt more like a contractor’s billet than a tourist stay, and there was a lot of litter and cigarette ends outside the entrance.
“Uncomfortable / lack of sleep / restaurant good / impersonal.”
The attached restaurant was great, but I had to keep the window open to avoid stuffiness, which made the road noise unbearable. The kettle was unusable because of limescale buildup, and I got bruises from a sticking-out bed frame. If this is the refurbished hotel, I’d hate to have seen it before—very basic and cheap refurbishment, probably just meeting building regulations. The water pressure in the bathroom was good, but the overall look suggested it had barely been cleaned and definitely not recently refurbished.
“Very poor”
The rooms were dirty, lit by outside lights at night, uncomfortable, and smelly.
After a mishap with the camper, I managed to get a decent night there. Nothing else to note.
