The front yard was neatly mowed and the owner kept about fifteen cats around, which was oddly charming, and I even got to chat with some French tourists. When I brought him food he could be pleasant, but the room was repeatedly entered, my belongings were rummaged through, and I was shouted at and asked to leave several times with no refund.

The host was surprisingly engaging and kept me in the loop the whole time, which made the stay pleasant. Apart from that, the place was just okay – nothing to complain about, though a TV or radio would have been a nice addition.

Even though the photos were vague, the two nights we spent there turned out to be comfortable and cheap, thanks to a welcoming host and a solid bed. The only downside was the 25‑minute drive into Adelaide, but the nearby beaches and eateries made up for it.

The room was pleasant and the host very kind; despite our limited English they made us feel welcome. At a low price it was a nice break during our coastal road‑trip, but remember it’s a private‑home room, not a hotel.
