The location was great; however, we were eight people and had to use every bed, and the mattresses on the bunk beds were in poor condition, with the slats being felt. Fewer guests would have avoided this issue.

The place is very clean and located close to the third beach – in fact close to all four. From the center, where the church is and where the boats depart, it takes about a 15‑minute calm walk. The property has all amenities except a washing machine, so for a long stay you’ll need to do hand‑washing or contact a laundry service in the center. The owner is wonderful, and the apartment looks exactly as in the photos – clean and lovely. I highly recommend it; we’ll come back in a few years! It’s not a flaw of the property itself, just general info for foreigners: you need to get to the island by boat. They depart at 6:00, 9:00, and 15:00, and the trip takes about 4 hours. In very bad weather most of the route is by land, which can extend the trip to over 7 hours. Because of that I had to return a day early to avoid missing my flight. It’s important to consider this when planning your stay. The last day is best spent in Salvador so you’re sure to make it to the airport.
