“Great Location, Disappointing in Almost Every Other Way”
This hotel is utterly disappointing. The two good points are that it’s only a couple of minutes from Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street and East Nanjing Road metro station, and it’s pleasantly designed, but that’s about it. We were offered early check‑in at 11:30 for an extra ¥280, which is already steep, and were told we’d get a better room. That turned out to be a lie; we received the same Superior Queen we had booked, with identical size and specs. Our room wasn’t serviced for two days, and we had to ask for it. Even then we only received a fresh set of towels—no new toilet paper, no fresh sheets, and no actual cleaning. They blamed our “Do Not Disturb” sign, which was false. Despite the large rooms, there’s almost no space for clothes: five hangers, no shelves, drawers, or hooks. The bathroom has two hooks, one awkwardly placed above the toilet paper next to the toilet, and the other inside the shower. All windows face the indoor breakfast restaurant, so you’ll get light from that side; good luck sleeping past 7 am. Breakfast is below average: it does the job but is mostly low‑quality, simple food—some stir‑fries, fruit, dumplings, sausages, fried eggs, and a small noodle station. There are also mini doughnuts and a few small desserts. The coffee from the machine was probably the worst we’ve had anywhere in Asia. The rooms have a lighting system with settings like “Work” and “Atmosphere,” but no option for a small nightlight or bathroom light; if you need to use the toilet at night, four lights come on, which isn’t practical. There’s only one lift for the whole hotel and no staircase for guests, so leaving the hotel can take up to 10 minutes. For this price, there are surely better options nearby. The location is great and the hotel looks nice, but that’s about it.
