I was staying right next to the train station, which was convenient, but the place was a nightmare. Mold was everywhere—so much that I had to cut my stay short to just one night because the humidity made my throat feel like it was going to burn. The bathroom was disgusting, and the staff seemed totally unqualified. The wooden stair planks that acted as stairs almost gave way under our weight (we were 55kg each). Soundproofing was terrible; by 3:30 am I could hear the bar’s music above as if the party was in my room. Dogs even slipped into the room despite the door being closed. We stayed only one night instead of the two we had booked because the mold was too severe.

The hostel’s location is great—just a minute from Ella train station and within walking distance of all the main sights, and the staff were very friendly with an exceptional breakfast. I booked a room and requested an odd‑time check‑in between 2–3 am, paying an extra day for that. I arrived at 0250 hrs and nobody was there; the bartender at the neighboring bar helped me to my room, even though the listing promised 24/7 reception. He knocked on the owner’s door but received no response. The owner’s communication was poor; I had booked over 12 hrs in advance, asked for the odd‑time check‑in, and sent a message via the booking platform and WhatsApp to the provided number, but got nothing back. Basically, you get what you pay for. The hostel is a basic single room with six beds, no toilet paper, a hot shower, and the top part of the toilet lid was missing so I had to press the toilet awkwardly to flush. There were too many mosquitoes—though a net was provided, it was helpful. The bedding had a bad odor; the room smelled like a toilet at night. Privacy was nonexistent, not safe for solo female travelers. There was no lock on the door; the old lock system inside was hard to use and couldn’t be opened with keys. I extended my stay for an extra night because it was cheap and close to attractions, but the place had no privacy, no dividers or curtains. On the second day, a male traveler booked the shared room; I couldn’t change or get dressed in the bathroom because the floor was wet and smelled bad, so I had to dress in the shared room space. I felt unsafe with the male traveler and couldn’t sleep all night because he tried to flirt at 4 am. The toilet wasn’t cleaned daily as advertised. Free Wi‑Fi had a terrible connection. Clothing rack and toilet paper were only provided after asking. There was no AC, just one old fan that made a lot of noise. There was no garden view, only construction materials; the bar did have a mountain view. The stairs were a bit steep, so be careful. Construction was ongoing at the site. Outside, there was a small plastic table with three chairs. No slippers or hair dryer were provided. It was noisy, with bar sounds and dogs barking right outside the room. There was no 24/7 front desk, no lockers (false advertisement), and no 24/7 security.
