The price, which includes meals, is solid, but the room looked older than the photos showed, the floor was worn out, and it was smaller than expected.

The area is full of closed shops, which feels scary and dirty, but the Hinoki bath was the only clean spot.

The boutique hotel is nicely designed with an outdoor pool and private spa spots after a long trip, and it’s a smart makeover of an old youth hostel. However, it sits near Bulguksa and Sukgulam but far from other hot spots in Gyeongju, in a deserted zone full of abandoned hostels that used to host Korean school trips. The whole area feels spooky because most nearby hotels and shops are closed. I wouldn’t pick this place because of its location, and even though it’s renovated, the staff seem to have nearly neglected it—carpet stains everywhere, a broken net window in my room, and a stinky toilet.

The property is stunning with exceptional architecture and design, and although it’s outside the city center, taxis or buses get you there easily and it’s close to Bulguksa Temple, giving the spot a unique cultural vibe. The staff were helpful and attentive, doing their best even with limited English. Still, language barriers made communication tough, and reception was often empty, so getting help was hard. The food was good but repetitive—same meals all three nights. The rooms, though conceptually beautiful and spacious, need renovation: floors need replacing, walls need fresh paint. We also had a mix‑up about the bathroom assigned to our room, which was uncomfortable.
