We had to leave early. Flies were everywhere, the hot tub was dirty and not working, the kettle was unclean, the fridge had no utensils, and the bedding felt itchy. I would have tolerated a place that wasn’t as described, but the flies ruined everything and we left early—never had to leave early from anywhere else. DO NOT GO; YOU’VE BEEN WARNED. I wish I had listened to the reviews.

It was a lovely quiet spot, but when we arrived we had to ask others for a number because the one we had stopped working, and the new number didn’t answer when we rang several times. There were many flies. The TV remote didn’t work properly. There were no oven trays, so we couldn’t use the oven. The heating and hot water were out. We tried calling the number, got no answer, and they didn’t bother to call us back to ask why we rang. In the end we figured it out ourselves.

I loved the hot tub. It wasn’t dirty, but there were loads of flies; we killed over 15 during our stay, yet they kept appearing even with all doors and windows shut.

It felt safe, looked nice, and was peaceful with no noise and good parking. However, there were no amenities, no shop, no pub, no restaurant within walking distance, and the lodge wasn’t clean.

We enjoyed our stay; the property is small but comfortably fits two people. The hot tub was great, the location lovely, and check‑in was easy. The only downside was the absence of an oven glove or tea towel for taking items out of the oven, which made it difficult at times, and we only had one baking tray. The TV was a smart TV, so we couldn’t watch Netflix or anything, and the sofa was a bit uncomfortable. Luckily we had full service, so we could stream from the iPad.
