Nothing. decided to cancel my booking even though it was already confirmed

I hated that I tried to cancel my booking by calling the hotel. An associate answered and said it would be taken care of, but I never received a cancellation number or any confirmation. Weeks later I discovered I was still charged, and attempts to contact the hotel and the owner were ignored. The associate claimed a strict no‑refund policy even though I had tried to cancel. I messaged the owner and got no response or calls back. I left a bad review on Google, and only then did the owner respond, saying there was no record of my call and that they would not refund me. The owner has the power to refund me but chooses not to because of a false belief that I didn’t attempt to cancel. Don’t stay here until you’re sure you won’t have to cancel your trip.
