Arctic Island - Remote Island

We enjoyed the cabin; it was cozy and fully equipped for a winter stay, with plenty of wood ready for us and more comforts than the description promised (for instance, there was already a lot of water stored in the cabin). The dry toilet worked well. The sauna was excellent, and the washroom was pleasant to use after a sauna session, with buckets available for washing. The island was mostly peaceful, the frozen river was a great spot to watch the aurora, and cross‑country skiing was possible on it. The bus stop is a 20‑minute walk away, and a bus to Kiruna can be caught from there. The stay could have been better if the cabin’s equipment had been refreshed, especially the kitchen: we couldn’t find any knives (except butter knives), no bowls for mixing or cereal, and the kettle looked worn and could use replacement.

The location was good. The toilets were an issue.

“Un cadre calme, magnifique et dépaysant !”

We loved being in the middle of nature, the experience of drawing water from the lake, the view, the setting, everything was ready with wood for the stove, the cabin was cute… but there were no dishcloths, one water pump was already broken, dirty bowls, and the floor was very cold, especially in the sauna… still very nice overall.

The friendliness and helpfulness of the guides Marcos and Flo stood out. It was a wonderful place to be together and enjoy Lapland. The dishware was very dirty.

The location, staff, sauna, equipment, and lake view were great. We found the accommodation not clean upon arrival; we understand we’re in nature and dust is possible, but the cleaning hadn’t been done. The photos on the site are from several years ago. The accommodation is less fresh than in the pictures.
